Like David Byrne, Joe Pera tends to fall in love with what he sets out to satirize. “Joe Pera Talks With You” is funny, warm, and occasionally true. “Joe Pera Reads You the Church Announcements” is possibly his best work.
The other possibility for Pera’s greatest work is “Relaxing Old Footage with Joe Pera”, released for free on YouTube in May of 2020, a few months into what was maybe the apocalypse.
